It’s been a week since I last posted. It feels like it’s been at least 6 weeks. I wish I could say I’ve been jet-setting to fabulous places to escape the Midwest winter winds, but I’ve simply been working hard and preparing for Christmas. But things have slowed down, I am officially done Christmas shopping (which means we’re getting to the fun part – the giving!) and wrapping.
So, what’s been going on?! Well, I got a new necklace from Ideeli. And the best part is I got it for FREE. Well, not really for free. I had a credit there for a pair of earrings that I sent back. But telling myself I got it for free helps me sleep at night.
I’ve also received all of my Cyber Monday deals and discovered that if you want a wonderful coat that is warm AND cute, go for shearling.
It looks so cute with jeans! I know it wasn’t on my “shopping list,” but I can usually convince myself if I think it’s a great deal.
In other news, I learned an important lesson: there is such a thing as too much sparkle. Last year, after Christmas, I bought several rolls of Christmas wrap 50% off at Target. I made a beeline for anything with glitter on it. So as we begin wrapping our presents over the weekend, I called dibs on the glitter wrap for my family. Big Mistake. Upon taking off the plastic wrap, a steady stream of glitter explosion flowed throughout the wrapping process. Glitter was in my hair, on my face, all over the carpet, in our drinks, stuck to Lola’s fur. To be honest, I didn’t mind so much. Until I realized I should probably vacuum all of it up – meaning more work for me. So now my family can look forward to glitter all over their lovingly wrapped gifts. Luckily, my mom likes glitter almost as much as I do 🙂
I also did A LOT of baking this weekend, displaying my finest cooking decorating work to date. I got the brilliant idea to make the snowflakes actually look like snowflakes. Here is what I came up with:
I also mistook the red food coloring for pink, so I ended up with a lot of hot pink holiday cookies.
So I’m going to work on some posts about men’s clothing for this week. I was also inspired by a fuchsia pencil skirt that I wore to work yesterday, and I will put together some outfits to show different ways to wear the vibrant hue.
Only 11 days until Christmas!
