Designer Obsession: Prabal Gurung

I’m not usually one to carefully follow New York, Paris and Milan fashion weeks. I love seeing pictures of collections in my fashion magazines. But there is one designer who has really caught my eye and made me want to follow his work every season: Prabal Gurung.

Born in Singapore and raised in Nepal, he studied fashion in New Delhi, India. Through his schooling, he was able to work for fashion houses and on fashion shows around the world. In 1999, he moved to New York, interned with Donna Karan and attended Parsons School of Design (a super famous design school in NYC, for those of you who don’t watch project runway.). After he completed school, he worked for both Cynthia Rowley and Bill Blass before launching his own collection. The Spring 2012 collection is his 7th. His creations are worn by celebrities, notably Sarah Jessica Parker recently. His styles are so sophisticated, colorful and endlessly glamorous.

Here are some of my favorites from his past couple of collections:

Stunning. His work truly is art.
