The little white dress is the new little black dress. A crisp white spring/summer dress is so chic right now. I know the rule that you’re not supposed to wear white before Memorial Day and after Labor Day, but I don’t buy into those kinds of silly rules. So wear white to your heart’s content! A little white dress is a seasonal staple and there is a huge variety in styles and prices out there. It’s also very easy to style because it’s basically a blank canvas. My only word of warning: don’t wear a LWD to a wedding where you aren’t getting married. The bride will not appreciate it. 🙂
All of my favorite stores have great options for a LWD. Here are some of my top picks:
Simple shape meets embellished fabric. I also love BB Dakota so this is a great find at a great price!
This white sheath is uber chic for the office.
I adore this very lady-like Max & Cleo dress!
This dress had me at Michael Kors.
I love the girly feel of this dress.
White and eyelit go together splendidly!
Great drapey, Grecian dress.
This is a great strapless LWD!
Peplum, of course!
This is a great maxi that doesn’t look bridal.
Maybe my favorite. I love the corset-looking top and the eyelit detail. So fresh and summery!
Right about now you’re probably thinking that you like some of these dresses but that you can’t pull off an all-over white outfit. No offense meant, but you’re very wrong. For starters, any dress that is cut and tailored well is going to be flattering. Also, I think white looks great on any combination of skin tone and hair color. And if you’re not totally sold on a stark white, try an ivory or cream tone to start.
Because this dress has a collar on it, it can be worn as a casual, weekend look or it could be worn at the office. To transform it for office-wear, just add a colorful blazer and black pumps or vice versa. [colorful pumps and black blazer.]
There is something about a white lace dress that feels so romantic to me. I kept that theme going with the blush and rosegold jewelry and the neutral clutch.
A LWD is great because it’s basically a blank canvas. You can add bright pops of color. More than one, even – like I did with this LWD. As you know, I love coral and turquoise together so why not use them to accessorize a white outfit.
I am also a huge fan of the following combinations: white + red; white + tan; white + leopard; white + yellow; white + cobalt; white + mint. See what I mean when I say there are endless ways to style it? So do not fear a LWD. Find one that you like, get it tailored to fit your body and accessorize it any way that you want to!
