Saddle [hand]bags

I had to look up what exactly a saddle bag is on Wikipedia [besides what Jillian Michael is always encouraging me to get rid of.] As you can probably guess, they are bags that attach on a side of a saddle on a horse. Simple, right? Well, saddle bags are also a fabulous fashion accessory…when used as a handbag instead of a bag for feeds and whatever else cowboys need. Most saddle handbags are small, have a curved shape, especially on the bottom and have a long flap in the front. They also usually [not always] have a long strap, to be worn cross-body. They are PERFECT for casual breezy looks and look fantastic with anything from summer sun dresses to jeans and boots!

I dig the basic tan, like this one by Ralph Lauren, but there is a wide variety of colors and materials!

Dooney & Bourke textured bag.

I adore the texture/pattern on this bag. Go western for a day and bust out your cowboy boots!

Perfection by Michael Kors.

This is an excellent affordable option. I like the way it zips in the front instead of a clasp closure!

Asos.

Neon!

This is my favorite saddle handbag in the entire world Neon coral Proenza Schouler.

Because saddle handbags lean more towards the casual side of things, I suggest pairing them with a sun dress or shorts and a tank in the summer and with jeans and boots in the winter.

…this is assuming it’s EVER sweater/boot weather again. I’m doubtful.
