Beauty Product Review Bonanza

There has been an abundance of new beauty products in my bathroom lately. Between Christmas gift card spending and getting my first Birchbox, I have been trying trying trying. And the reviews are in šŸ™‚

Let’s start with hair. I have long hair that is very fine. It’s not thin, but fine and doesn’t hold style very well. So when I curl it, I require a lot of hairspray. I wanted to go beyond the hairspray though and try other types of products.

TIGI Creative Genius

I like the title of this product. And the color. And it smells incredible. [I’m big on smell when it comes to hair products:)] This sculpting cream works pretty well on my hair. I apply when it’s wet and when I know I will be curling it in the next 24 hours or so. It gives my hair texture that hugely helps when I curl it. I would definitely recommend this for people who have similar hair!

TIGI_Root Boost

TIGI Root Boost came in my Birchbox a couple of weeks ago and I am completely in love with it! I 100% recommend this product. It gives my hair a lot more volume and lift than usual. I just spray it on the roots at the top of my head while my hair is wet and then blow dry with a round brush. The only thing I don’t like about it is the smell. But I can overlook that for how it makes my hair look.

CHI_iron guard

CHI Iron Guard spray is a thermal protecting spray that is meant to keep your hair from getting as damaged when you run a straight iron through it. I really like this product. I think it does a decent job of coating and protecting from the straight iron. It leaves my hair shiny!

Next, bath and body.

L’Occitane lavender hand cream. This lotion does smell really good, but a 1 oz tube costs $10 and lasted a little less than a month. To me, it’s not worth it. If I had to buy an ounce every month that would be $120 for the year. Too much for lotion! If it was gifted to me, though… šŸ™‚

Makeup! My favorite!

YSL Volume mascara. I got a small sample of this when I bought all of my lipsticks back in January and the mini tube is still going strong! I really like this mascara – it gives lots and lots of volume and doesn’t clump. It takes a couple of coats to get the look I want, but I think most mascaras require at least 2 coats. The jury’s still out on whether I like it as much or more than Diorshow.

theBalm eyeshadow/blush. I really like this peachy pink shade for a blush, but I would not wear it as eyeshadow. It reminds me a lot of Nars Orgasm, and is about $10 cheaper. So if you’re looking for an alternative…

Fragrance. I looove trying new perfumes! And those little samples are a great way to wear one around for a couple of weeks to determine if you really like one. And I’ve found 2 new scents that I love!

Prada_eye candy

Prada Candy is a delightful smell! It’s not overwhelming but still bold. At $82 for 1.7 oz., this is going on my wish list.

Juicy Couture Couture La La is another Birchbox goody! I don’t normally go for anything Juicy, but I love this scent! It’s fruity and feminine. I think it would be a great spring fragrance!

Do you have any feedback about any of these products? Or do you have any great products to recommend? Because I, very obviously, love to try new ones!

  1. I have become a Balm fan thanks to Birchbox. I love Juicy perfumes, which is super weird, but they smell yum!! The jury is in on YSL, I have 2 kinds and love DiorShow!!

  2. I have a question for you “oh guru of makeup”….The topic of mascara came up in discussion at dinner last night with some guests. How long do you keep it before you need to change it out due to possible eye infection. I had heard three months…just wanted to make sure as that is when I have tossed mine.
