2013 Met Gala

This year’s Met Gala has a punk theme, in honor of the Met Museum’s spring exhibition entitled “PUNK: Chaos to Couture.” The stars arrived with punk hair and makeup, but kept the dresses beautiful and elegant. Read on for my best and worst dressed!

Naomie Harris_Met Gala

Naomie Harris in Donna Karan. I just adore the color and the feathers. This dress looks like it was made for her.

Rooney Mara_Met Gala

Rooney Mara in Givenchy. Always a favorite.

Emmy Rossum_Met Gala

Emmy Rossum in Donna Karan. I love her dress, but I can’t get over how much I love her hair and makeup.

Minka Kelly_Met Gala

Minka Kelly in Carolina Herrara. I love the “dark side” feeling of this look. It’s not punk, but it’s gorgeous.

Nina Dobrev_Met Gala

Nina Dobrev in Monique Lhuillier. I don’t love the skirt on this dress, but everything else about it is so perfect I am ignoring the skirt.

Amber Heard_Met Gala

Amber Heard in Emilio Pucci. Again, not punk but stunning.

Nicole Richie_Met Gala

Nicole Richie in Topshop. Now this is a statement maker. Half ice-queen, half punk. I am obsessed.

Taylor Swift_Met Gala

Taylor Swift in J.Mendel. Gorgeous, from head to toe.

Jamie King_Met Gala

Jamie King in Topshop. I love the suit and the lace peeking out from underneath. This is the sexiest menswear look ever.

Sarah Jessica Parker_Met Gala

Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles Deacon. I can’t see past this amazing mohawk headpiece. It’s amazing.

Blake Lively_Met Gala

Blake Lively in Gucci. She looks like a magnificent bird.

Elizabeth Banks_Met Gala

Elizabeth Banks. This is how a coat dress should look!

Emma Watson_Met Gala

Emma Watson in Prabal Gurung. I just adore her.

Jennifer Lawrence_Met Gala

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior. I am slightly underwhelmed by this dress, but I love her subtle cage veil on her face. So beautiful.

Cameron Diaz_Met Gala

Cameron Diaz in Stella McCartney. WOW.

Elle Fanning_Met Gala

Elle Fanning in Rodarte. I don’t care how high fashion this is, it’s horrible. In every way.

Miley Cyrus_Met Gala

I know a lot of people will love this Marc Jacobs gown Miley Cyrus. I am not a fan of the look or the hair. I don’t understand why people are so obsessed with her.

Heidi Klum_Met Gala

Heidi Klum in Marchesa. As happy as I am that Heidi covered up a little bit for the event, I don’t think this bridal gown is appropriate.

Kim Kardashian_Met Gala

Kim Kardashian in Givenchy. I hate the print and I hate the attached glove. Though I’ve learned not to expect much from Kim K.

Gwyneth Paltrow_Met Gala

Gwyneth Paltrow in Valentino. This isn’t the worst [see above] but it’s not wowing me. I love hot pink but I’m not feeling this on Gwen.

Miranda Kerr_Met Gala

Miranda Kerr in Michael Kors. We get it, you have amazing abs. Put on a shirt. [This critique is harsh out of hot body jealousy. I kind of like this look]

Jennifer Lopez_Met Gala

Jennifer Lopez in Michael Kors. No. I hate this print.

Jessica Biel_Met Gala

Jessica Biel in Versace. The only thing I don’t like about this look is everything. I’m just not that into netted pants.

Gwen Stefani_Met Gala

Gwen Stefani in Maison Martin Margiela. This just seems underwhelming, especially for someone as punk as Gwen. And THIS is what she wears to a punk themed event? Come on!

Kristen Stewart_Met Gala

Kristen Stewart in Stella McCartney. The jumpsuit isn’t that bad but it makes her look bigger than she is. Who wants that? And her hair and makeup is atrocious.

Best: Nicole Richie. She went for it!

Worst: Kim Kardashian!

Agree or disagree? Was I too harsh? Or too kind?

  1. I extra love SJP, Elizabeth Banks, Emma Watson, and Nicole Richie, but I cannot stand Cameron Diaz. The fit is off, the look has no sartorial comment on punk, and the color doesn’t flatter her. Maybe on another girl, but it was a worst for me.
